With cattleia, Cristina Celestino has designed extraordinary textile wall decoration, inspired by the Cattleya orchid, the national flower of Colombia. Cattleia is part of the Amazonia series, Celestino's first furniture and accessories collection for ames. The decorative blossoms are handmade from fibres of the Jipi palm tree, whereby different handicraft techniques such as knotting, braiding and weaving are used. This creates harmonious combinations of filigree details and playful spirals - two stylistic elements that are particularly popular in the traditional craftsmanship of the north Colombia.
The Italian designer chose intense colours like moss green, lilac red and red-beige for the wonderfully eccentric wall decoration. Somewhat more discreet is cattleia in natural variant. The flowers are available in three sizes.
