The landscape of the province of Huila lives from the meeting of two forces of nature, the river Rio Magdalena and the desert Tatacoa. Designer Mae Engelgeer brings the contrasting play of natural phenomena to life in the new uilas rugs. With dry fique fibre, colours and shapes of the desert take shape, the natural soft new wool symbolises the lushness of the river valley. Twisted yarns of both natural materials emphasize the natural radiance of the carpets and their unusual spectrum of colors and shine. Colourful stripes of wool and fique set a colourful accent. The asymmetrical shapes refer to the craftsmanship of the knotters and weavers, giving the carpet a playful look. The carpets are handmade in manufactories in the provinces of Santander and Boyacá.
the products of the ames collection are mostly made from natural materials and produced in small, traditional manufactories. as each object is unique, there may be slight variations in size and colour.
