For the design of the Zenues rugs, Sebastian Herkner was inspired by ancient civilisations in Colombia. During a visit to the jewellery museum in the capital Bogota, he discovered the goldsmith's work of the Zenu culture, which is decorated with so-called Narigra symbols. Each carpet is knotted on traditional looms in ateliers in the Colombian Andes. The artesanos and artesanos, as the artisans are called in Colombia, hand-mill the "channels" into the carpet pile of undyed wool in natural creamy white. In total, it takes four weeks to make one carpet.
the products of the ames collection are mostly made from natural materials and produced in small, traditional manufactories. as each object is unique, there may be slight variations in size and colour.
